Background

Established in 1978, Maharashtra Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization in the US, with a vision to provide an enhanced quality of life for the poor and vulnerable, and  fund sustainable, long‐erm solutions to social problems in Maharashtra and other  parts of India. Maharashtra Foundation’s mission is to promote economic  empowerment and social justice for all. Its philosophy is based on progressive  thinking, and thus focuses on social change rather than welfare.

Eligibility

  1. In order to be eligible, the applicant MUST have an approved FCRA
  2. Proposals/applications for funding must address one or more of  Maharashtra Foundation’s five key issues :
    a. Poverty Reduction
    b. Healthcare Provision
    c. Women’s Empowerment
    d. Environment Protection
    e. Education Provision
  3. Maharashtra Foundation does not fund construction or capital projects
